Day 29: April 1 – A Day of Underwater Wonders in Cabo Pulmo

Today, we gathered at Cabo Pulmo Watersports for an unforgettable underwater adventure in the Sea of Cortez. Janice, Jenny, Diana, Ken, Jordan, and I boarded the snorkeling boat, while Rob set out on the scuba boat. It was a special treat to have the snorkel boat all to ourselves, giving us the freedom to explore without distraction.
Getting into our wetsuits was an adventure in itself—Janice and I twisted and contorted in ways that hardly seemed humanly possible, laughing the whole time. Our guide, Andrea, led us expertly through the experience, ensuring we made the most of our time in the water.

We snorkeled above immense schools of jackfish, each measuring three to four feet long, shimmering in the sunlight as they moved in perfect unison. The sea was alive with color—vibrant blues, fiery oranges, deep reds, and striking whites. The highlight was spotting a magnificent leatherback turtle gliding gracefully beneath us.

We stopped at three different locations, each offering a unique view of the underwater world. At our final stop, we spent about 45 minutes swimming above a stunning coral reef, mesmerized as fish darted in and out of the crevices. The reef pulsed with life, a hidden world teeming with movement and beauty. The entire trip lasted about two and a half hours, but time seemed to disappear in the magic of the sea.

Back on shore, Janice helped extricate me from my wetsuit—a process almost as amusing as getting into it! We headed to Tacos and Beer to relive our adventure over plates of delicious chips and salsa, accompanied, of course, by refreshing margaritas.
Once back at camp, we took Lincoln and Tad for a well-earned stroll along the beach before settling in for a relaxing afternoon. We soaked in the infinity pool on the upper patio, gazing out over the Sea of Cortez, then lounged beneath the palapa, soaking up the warmth and conversation. We talked about adventures we've been on. Diana is one of the most well-traveled people I've ever known. Ken played guitar, and we talked about music, lost in the moment.
To top off the day, Jordan prepared a fantastic dinner—Mexican soup and stuffed peppers, bursting with flavor. It was the perfect end to a day filled with wonder, laughter, and the kind of memories that will stay with us forever.
