Another completely relaxing day unfolded here in the tranquil beauty of Cabo Pulmo. With each passing sunrise, we feel more at peace, more connected to this land—and yet, we’ve begun turning our gaze gently toward the road ahead. We spent part of the day planning our departure and researching our next stop: Todos Santos, about three hours away on the Pacific side of the peninsula. We took the Boys for a walk around the adjoining property that's for sale for $750,000 or a bazillion pesos.
In the midst of these preparations, a serendipitous text arrived from our friend Julie Lowe. Her mom—and our friend—Jean Walker, had left some things behind in Todos Santos during a previous visit. A friend of Jean’s will be passing those items along to us to bring back to Roseburg. What are the odds? Baja continues to remind us that it's the land of beautiful coincidences and unexpected connections.
We spent the morning doing a deep clean of the motorhome and caught up on laundry. Our departure was supposed to be earlier, but Randy and Kim are expecting a marketing expert to do some drone work for them. Originally scheduled to arrive last Thursday, he had been delayed in La Ventana due to strong winds.
We took full advantage of the slower pace, soaking in the upper pool and letting conversation drift to thoughts of home. We called our friend Mike Burke for an update from Oregon. Spring is making its grand entrance, oscillating between warm, sunny days and chilly, rain-soaked ones—a classic April dance in the Pacific Northwest.
After the pool session, we changed clothes and hopped on the bikes for a ride into town for dinner. Just as we were leaving, we noticed a new face—Stephen McKenna, the elusive marketing expert, had arrived and was setting up on the upper level. We invited him to join us for dinner, and what followed was nothing short of exhilarating.
Stephen is a renowned drone videographer with a presence as vibrant as his portfolio. He was doing some warm-up flights and invited us to try on his 3-D goggles while he flew. The experience was thrilling—like soaring over the landscape ourselves. At one point, Janice looked like she was ready to take flight right off the rooftop!
Energized, we set off—Stephen on his e-motorcycle and the two of us on our Aventons—heading for dinner at the Coral Reef Restaurant. Over good food and easy conversation, we got to know more about our new friend. He’s traveled to 70 different countries, each one a chapter in an incredible life story. His camaraderie was effortless, and we’re excited to collaborate with him on the marketing footage for Randy and Kim’s project.
We continue to be amazed by the magic of Baja. Every day brings a new thread in the tapestry of serendipity, connection, and shared wonder.
