Day 6 Masoshika State Park, Montana to Abraham Lincoln State Park, North Dakota - 208 miles

We spent last night at Makoshika State Park and got up early to catch the sunrise and hike with the Boys on the marvelous trails at the Park. We couldn't be more impressed with the Park and hope to visit again some day when we can spend more time there. It has all the qualities of a National park but without the tour busses and throngs of people. Highly recommend!

We set sail for our current location at Abraham Lincoln State Park at 10 am and stopped to get a picture at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

When we left I noticed and said out loud (in my head) that we had 1/4 tanks of gas. When we left Teddy's Park, I remembered hearing a beep and thought it was the invisibrake system for our towed vehicle. We proceeded down the highway and I entertained Janice by singing off key to some classic rock songs, oblivious that we were running out of gas. As we neared Bismark, ND I noticed the LOW FUEL! I turn of the radio and Janice Googles the nearest gas station and we find out it is 9 miles away and there are 2-3 large hills ahead. We really tightened our sphincter muscles (dogs included) while the dashboard alarm laughed at us and indicated we would run out of gas at any moment. Somehow, some way we made it to the station just as a beep indicated we were out of gas.

We got to Abraham Lincoln State Park and toured the amazing museum. George Custer lived here before getting his last haircut at Little Big Horn. More interesting was the history of the Mandan Indians who had a thriving community in the area before being decimated by small pox in the late 1700's

We took the Boys for a swim and started to sit outside before a band of mosquitos tried to carry Tad away. We are sequestering in the motorhome tonight. We have an Umpqua Watersheds BOD meeting via phone tonight.

Excited to be with Family tomorrow thru Sunday.

Boardman, OR to home Spt 26 2024

Unfortunately some locals at 5 am decided to be assholes and went roaring by us making sure they disturbed our slumber. But on the plus side...
