Day 13 The Bay of Conception

The journey today was from San Ignatio to Bahai de Conception. We had coffee in the little town and took in the last few moments of San Ignatio.

The coffee shop also had various knick knacks and hats. Kasey is a hat guy so of course, he bought a hat. The brim is a little bigger than normal.

The Bay of Conception is named for the glow in the sky that appears after sunset. It is said to be the immaculate conception. I made that up. Our campsite at Playa Santispac on the Bahaia de Conception along the Sea of Cortez which is the east side of the Baja Peninsula. It is a popular campground and we settled for the first opening before walking around and finding an even better one. Playa means beach and Santispac means sanitary. Naw, I made that up. I don't know what it means.
But it is pretty with mountains surrounding the Bay. We are tucked away from the main group and we don't mind the extra walking.
We went to the closest restaurant to try the margaritas and the food. Despite having a margarita first, the food was not impressive. The server was a big guy with a ho hum attitude. Kasey started to remind me of the Farmers Insurance commercials asking the guy his name and telling the poor guy more than he was interested in knowing.
Kasey has some Umpqua Watersheds business to attend to so Diana and I talked quietly amongst ourselves.
I don't remember how these next pictures ended up on my phone. A couple of guys in black suits and sunglasses shined a bright light at us and we woke up in the morning in our wetsuits.

okay, the truth is that we were walking the dogs after dinner and an eery glow appeared just west of camp coming over the mountains. Several voices from campers were heard saying "what the hell is that?" I heard one guy say Holy crap. I've never seen anything like it in my whole f***ing life.
Soon the glow turned reddish and appeared to become the Star Trek symbol.
Then the men in black showed up. I know all of this because Tad and Lincoln told me.

Boardman, OR to home Spt 26 2024

Unfortunately some locals at 5 am decided to be assholes and went roaring by us making sure they disturbed our slumber. But on the plus side...
