We all like walking the beach and this morning was perfect after a very windy night. The dogs got a nice walk in before we set off from Campo Archelon. It was a fairly quiet place otherwise and the only place that we saw that recycled. We were hoping to get going early but noticed a low tire so we headed to the gas station and found air. But, we were unsure how to connect the air hose since the valve is in a difficult spot. Our antics to take the hub cap off soon drew a crowd of Spanish and English speakers all trying to solve the gringos problem. A resident named Julio suggested, gestured more like it, that we follow him to the tire shop just a short distance. There we discovered that a nail was in the tire and the tire guy got to work getting the wheel off and patching it. Kasey wanted to visit with his new friends longer but we had to get going.
Before too much longer, we were on our way and headed toward Guerrero Negro. Little did we know that what awaited us was several kilometers of crappy road with more potholes than road. It was a very unmaintained road and even the truckers were going slow. But we found a few sections of road without potholes and the scenery was unbeatable. We were sure fortunate that we had the tire serviced before embarking out to where there is no cell service.
We arrived and set up at a place with full hookups. Nothing fancy but the road was paved with clam shells which gave it a cool look. We got reservations for whale watching for tomorrow and enjoyed the great margaritas at the adjoining restaurant.
The restaurant also has an information center about the marine life in the area.
After we were all set, we decided to head to a bird sanctuary where we found some cool birds. The Little Blue Heron was a nice find.
Then we went back to our campsite a⁹rea to eat at the nearby restaurant only to find that it was completely reserved even though there were only a handful of people in the restaurant. It was probably those moto cross people, we joked.
But we made the best of it and went back to the RV and found plenty to eat. Comet sure thought she as getting served too.
We played a game of spite and malice, teaching Diana how to play. It was probably the latest that we have stayed up on this trip. Tomorrow is whale watching day.
