Our day started out well. There was a loud band playing at a Mexican church service in the campground and the preacher started shouting and the people shouted back . It was quite the commotion! I got up, made coffee, took the dogs for a walk and grabbed breakfast to go at a little restaurant next to the campground. Janice slept in and then worked on her blog while I was gone.
We hit the road for our 2.5 hour trip to Cabo Pulmo, our primary destination. The road was straight and in good condition, except when we crossed over the mountains, where the road was still good but snaked up and down both sides of the mountains. We took it slow and marveled at the scenery. When we turned off of Hwy 1 toward Cabo Pulmo the road turned into dirt and there were cows and goats meandering on the road. It took us about 45 minutes to get into the very small village of Cabo Pulmo, population 150.
It is really a cute town and we look forward to exploring more tomorrow. A nice young man named Fernando told us we could dry camp on the beach for free about 2 kilometers away. We scouted it out and something got lost in translation while Janice gave me instructions on where to park the motorhome. She wanted me to go to the right and when I veered left she shouted and I stopped where I was to try to hear her. The motorhome got stuck in the sand.
We tried getting digging out but gave up after 45 minutes because we were getting too much sun. We opted to put out the awning and chairs, set up camp and have some cerbezzas and tackle trying to get out of our predicament in the morning.
We walked on the beach. Cabo Pulmo is everything we hoped it would be. The waves crash on the shore and when the water flows back it takes the rocks back with it and it sounds like applause. Lincoln loved getting near the water and rushing back up when the waves came in. We laughed and the more we laughed, the more he would do it.
